Pastor Phil Pringle’s latest book, Peace, tackles the subjects of fear, anxiety, worry, despair and depression. These things are epidemics in modern society. The media cultivates and then throws gasoline on the fire of people’s fears. Our governments use fear and worry to keep people in line. Even some religious groups use fear to keep their people under control.

Pringle points out that, “There are 530 documented phobias in the world today. Fear is the most common mental disorder in the world, lying at the root of most mental illnesses.” He also points out that, “The family of fear is intimidation, timidity, anxiety, despair, doubt, unbelief, confusion, hardness, negativity, [and] complaining. The family of faith is believing, trusting, courage, confidence, positivity, praise, thanksgiving and decisiveness.”

The peace of God is a result of having faith in God. We all go through things that want to take our peace away. Everyday we have the opportunity to live in faith or to live in fear. One of the great promises in Scripture reminds us, “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Peace is a great reminder that true peace only comes from a relationship with Christ. Do you need more peace in your life? Do you need to be reminded of the promises of God? Do you need a little help to see how much God loves you? Check out this book! It is easy to read and is designed so that you can use it in your daily devotions.
