“And without faith, it is impossible to please God…”
Do you ever wonder why it has to be faith? I mean doesn’t love make the world go around? Why doesn’t the writer to the Hebrews say, “And without love, it is impossible to please God…?” I mean love is much more important than faith, isn’t it?
There is no doubt that love is a powerful force. In the Kingdom of God, however, there is nothing more powerful than faith. Didn’t Jesus say that we could move mountains with our faith? Faith forces us to look beyond ourselves. It causes us to trust Someone greater ourselves. Faith is the supernatural connection between earth and heaven that sets the stage for the miraculous to occur in our lives.
Paul did say that out of faith, hope, and love, the greatest was love. It seems like he was saying that if we just love others, everything will be fine. In reality, Paul was saying that everything we do needs to be done in love. When our faith is motivated by love, we take notice of the needs of those around us. Our faith then becomes outward focused. Instead of worrying so much about our own needs, our attitude can be, “What can I believe God for with you?” Faith and love look to connect God’s power with our needs but also with the needs of those He brings across our paths.
What are you believing God for today?
