The Key to God’s Blessings

“And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven…”

Take a look at your key chain. How many keys do you have that you have no idea what they are for? As we were packing up to leave the United States and move to Brazil I noticed so many keys on my key chain that I had accumulated over the years. The problem was that I had no idea what many of them went to.

I think that sometimes the same thing happens in the spiritual realm. Jesus has told us that He has given us the keys to His Kingdom. Yet, I wonder if we know which key opens which door. Most of us pray, “God bless me!” You might have even prayed that today. The reality is that God has shown us which key unlocks the door to God’s blessings: “If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving — large or small — it will be used to measure what is given back to you.”

Generosity is the key that unlocks the storehouse of God’s blessings. The only way that we can receive God’s blessings is by opening our hand to bless others and build the Kingdom. If we can’t open our hand to give, the hand will not be open to receive from God.

How has generosity impacted your life?

Why Does Self-Control Matter?

“A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.”
We don’t see many cities in America with walls. That is not a common architectural feature today. Cities used to be built with large, thick walls around them to keep the bad guys out and the good guys safe within. The large gate could
