It was another tough week of choices for our judges, but they managed to pick out three stories that got their attention this week. Coming in at Third Place was: Would-Be Robbers Stopped by Gun–Toting Homeowner. This took place in North Carolina where two predators kicked in the door to Jerry’s house to rob it.

The standard for conviction in a criminal trial is, “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.” Notice that this does not say, “Beyond Any Doubt.” It seems like in this case, that the jury was looking at the evidence through the latter, rather than the former lens.
