“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.”
Election time is upon us. This is a time of debates, arguments, personal attacks, and political ads. Both parties use fear, misdirection, and even deception in an effort to win votes. As American Christians, however, we must never forget that our citizenship in the Kingdom of God must always come first. In fact, we have a dual citizenship.
My citizenship in the Kingdom should govern how I act during this election time. It does not mean that I am not going to participate in the process. My Kingdom citizenship should guide my behavior during the process, though. There are Christian Republicans, Christian Democrats, Christian Libertarians, and Christian Independents.
The fact that we are brothers and sisters should always take precedent over our party affiliation. That doesn’t mean that we can’t discuss politics and the issues but let’s make sure that we are discussing them and not yelling at each other. There is more than enough of that going on already!
If you would like to help us as we prepare to move back to Brazil, here is the link. Obrigado! (Thank you!)
